Independence with support, community with care.
At Sir Henry Supported Living, we are dedicated to providing a range of supported living services for adults affected with mental health conditions, learning disability, autism and people who have experienced homelessness. Our services’ mission is to enable our service users to live active lives, independently and safely integrating with their community. Our team will tailor the care and support we provide to the specific requirements of each person.
What is supported living
Supported living, sometimes referred to as assisted living, is a way of helping people live as independently as they can, in their own home with their own tenancy agreement, rental or ownership. At the same time, they receive the support and care they need. Supported living offers individuals greater choice and control over how they live their day-to-day lives.
As a tenant you are responsible for your own bills and cost of living. You may be entitled to a wide range of benefits such as housing benefits, employment and support allowance, mobility allowance and personal independence payments. Individuals pay for their own holiday, additional staff costs, domestic and shopping costs, busfare etc.
Supported living promotes autonomy, choice and inclusion as well as offering care and support tailored to each individual’s preferences and needs. Our services empower people to make their own choices and decisions about all aspects of their lives upholding human rights. We also focus on enhancing social integration, achieving personal growth as well as promoting development of each individual’s life skills. We are committed to helping people with learning and disabilities to become active members of their communities who engage in leisure and recreational activities and develop a sense of belonging. We work closely with the service user to develop personalized support plan which recognizes and promotes a person’s cultural and spiritual needs. We review the support plan regularly jointly with the service user, and key people involved in their life.
Our Staff And Governance
We have a team of readily available dedicated, compassionate, hardworking nurses, carers and support workers who have relevant qualifications, experience and skills.
We conduct seamless pre-employment checks including criminal history check at enhanced disclosure level (AccessNI). We comply with legislations, Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) guidance, regional protocols and local processes issued by Health and Social Services boards and Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts. All our social care workers are Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) registered. Staff fulfill mandatory training requirements and undergo structured in-house induction that meets NISCC induction standards.
All Staff are supervised, and their performance appraised to promote the delivery of quality care and services. Systems are in place to evaluate quality improvement and the effect of training on practice.
Our Accommodation Options
We endeavour to make our tenants’ homes to their requirements and taste, and we make the homes comfortable and modern. There is an option to live alone in a self-contained apartment, house or bungalow or share with others. We can also provide a bespoke solution adapted to meet individual needs. If an individual prefers to live with other people, we match them with people who share similar interests and lifestyle. While meals are not provided, support workers can assist with shopping and cooking as needed.
